Through the winter I have taken some photographs of landscapes and nature.
It all has meant some long walks in the woods and a lot of hard work, especially when the snow was deep.

Some of the images is the result of all the toil, from winter until spring.
I have some pictures to go through, before the rest end up in this gallery, but here are the ones that I now have finished.

View album here or view the Google+ Album

It is not long since Adobe Lightroom 4 was made available in stable version after a beta period.

I have downloaded and tried the beta version of CS6 and is very surprised and positive about what Adobe has accomplished in this update.
The Beta version is available for both PC and Mac, and you can play around with CS6 until the stable version is released later this spring.

Here is a review of CS6 Beta made by Gizmodo.com
Read the review, it is worth the time.
The video shows how to fix an old photo that is withered by time.
Now, restoring an old photo like this is not an easy task.

Toutorvid uses some techniques that opens a new world if you have never used them your self. You are going to learn about curves, smart layers (smart object) cloning and much more. The best is, you will learn all this in about 12 minutes. .

I will start posting my favorite videos once or twice a week from now as I know there are more people than me that appreciates good tutorial videos.

I have revised most of the pictures I’ve taken over the last couple of years.
I have dealt with some / most of the photos I have previously shared here at TGPhotoblog and on Picasa.

Because of the reprocessing I have removed most of the pictures I have previously shared, and will now begin the process of uploading new images which have not been shared, I am also going to upload a lot of new pictures.

First out is an album I have called “Sculptures, monuments and street art”

Here they are

Every now and then while working on an image in Photoshop, you probably think to yourself “oh, I wish I knew a way to do this faster” Well chances are that there is a way to do it much faster by using keyboard shortcuts.

Quite many of us knows most of the basic keyboard shortcuts well as most of us have been using a computer for a very long time. I am thinking particularly of the basic keyboard shortcuts such as ctrl + c (and ctrl + v, ctrl + x) ctrl + s, ctrl + q, etc., all of them quite simple and all of them commonly used in many different applications.

In Adobe Photoshop you do most of the magic with a mouse in your hand, but some of the features in Photoshop can be quite well hidden in the myriads of the menus, this is where the usefulness of shortcuts comes to life.

As an example, do you know what “Shift+Control+W” performs for you in Photoshop? I can tell you that it does something that may take many seconds without this shortcut, here’s what it does: The function closes the file you worked on in Photoshop, if the file has not yet been saved dolls “save file dialog” up, after this open Adobe Bridge and enable viewing of Adobe Bridge. All this is achieved by simple key combinations.

Another example, if you want to view work in full size, press the Ctrl +1 and enlarged to 100%

To see all the shortcuts available for adobe Photoshop cs5 (mac and windows) go here

I love google +, and use this social tool often, especially to look at pictures from other photographers. Photographers that can be ranked as amateurs with range up to professional photographers.

The range on Google+ is very large and the quality is very varied.
The variety is one of the things with google+ that appeals to me. Google+ is of course not only for photography, g+ is also a social platform that can be used as a cross between twitter and facebook, it’s just that Google+ is useful for more than this too.

One of the people I have circled (follow) in google+ is Thomas Hawk (famous photographer, blogger, and what not) I recently visited his blog and an article on it caught my attention: Guy Kawasaki’s New Book, What the Plus!: “Google+ is to Facebook and Twitter what Macintosh is to Windows” I thought the article was interesting, so I wanted to share it with my readers.

It is not easy to say what makes Google + so much better than facebook, Google +just feels better and the workflow is so easy compared to the workflow in facebookand twitter.

WordPress is a very versatile CMS, there is no doubt about it.

It comes with a variety of options and what they call plugins, well actually there are tons of plugins available for WordPress, someone does the same trick, and some are unique.

But for photographers then? , WordPress is a good option?
I would go so far as to say it is about the only option for a photographer who wants to be able to blog and share photos. For pure portfolios, I will say that WordPress is exceptional for this as well, but it is possible there are up against equally good solutions out there.

Enough talk about the brilliant wordress and what not, let’s get to it to get the Picasa / Google + albums imported into your page NOW!

What is kPicasa?
In short: kPicasa is a WordPress plugin that can show your albums from picasa on your website.

kPicasa Gallery plugin is one of the plugins that I am most pleased with my website. It may be that there is another plugin to do the same or even make it better, anyway I like kPicasa because it is very easy to use and it does what I need which is: It shows the picasa / Google + albums I want it to show and it shows in the order I want the album.

If you are interested, download kPicasa Gallery now and let’s get started ..

1. Install kPicasa Gallery that you install any other plugins
2. Read these few lines to get an idea of what you can do.
three.
3. Now that you have installed kPicasa Gallery, you must configure it.

You will find kPicasa config here

Take a look under plugins and you will find a link to the Configuration page.
In the new window, type in your Google username, ex: googleuser73
Fill out any options you want to change.

Configuration options for kPicasa

Fill out any options you feel like changing.

4. Create a blank page in the category you want.
Write the article as usual, or you can let the article be empty if you so choose.
When you know where you want the album to appear, insert the code that you can see below.

KPICASA_GALLERY(username: Your Other User Name)

Adding specific album:
If you want to you can add specific albums, and you can organize them so that they appear in the order you want.
The code for this is:

KPICASA_GALLERY(TripToEurope, TripToAsia, TripToAustralia)

This code shows three albums from picasa album and they be organized in the way you wrote your code, for example, from left to right, then “TripToEurope” is the first album and TripToAustralia is the last album.

You must know what each album is named, in Picasa, Picasa makes names your albums as needed. The easiest way to find the name of your album is simply to visit Picasaweb and then visit each album. Then, when you click on one of your albums will see the following format in the link that comes in the address field:

http://picasaweb.google.com/YourPicasaUsername/TripToEurope

“TripToEurope” is thus the album name in picasa, this is the name you must put in kpicasa code if you wish to view the album on your website.
The code for the album TripToEurope is:
KPICASA_GALLERY(TripToEurope)

The code above makes the album TirpToEurope visible in the article you just made.
You must of course make sure that the album is Public (can be changed in album propreties) on Picasa otherwise it’s all wasted.

Here is an example of code for an older gallery I hasse available on my side.
The gallery is organized in other words exactly the way I wanted it to be.

KPICASA_GALLERY(NightshootsJan2012, WhenNatureCallsDusa, WhenNatureCall, RuralLifeDecayStoryBW, 1FrequentlyUpdatedAlbum, 2FlowersAndMacro, 3NatureWaterfallsRivers, LightExperimentsRevisited)

The reason I have chosen to only add my username in the code for the sake of simplicity is that I have some albums on picasa that I do not want to show in my gallery
